Good Shepherd Mission

1 Kit Carson Drive Fort Defiance, Arizona 86504

Good Shepherd Mission sits on the Colorado Plateau in the high desert of Northern New Mexico, in the Four Corners area of the Navajo Nation. We were initiated as a medical mission in the 1880's with the first hospital to the Navajo. Today, we have 50 acres with beautiful buildings, a large organic/permaculture garden, and a historic church. We offer regular church services, retreats and mission group lodging, many social services and the Hummingbird Cafe.

Gardens, fruit trees, greenhouse, compost pile, a field of bees in the knapweed, ancient buildings with stories to be told, and elders to tell the stories, a beautiful church that inspires a sense of the sacred, and a place to hold our sorrow, grief, worry, and our joy, our family ties.

Air that we only experience in the high desert with land, soil, earth that is red, rocky, chalky, and smells of the plants that live in it - sage, cedar, pinion, Navajo tea, and a dozen different yellow desert flowers.

This is Navajoland and this is Good Shepherd. Welcome to our land and earth, sky, soil, air.
